We're now into DAY 3! So far so good. Considering how much of a sugar addict I am, I'm surprised that I feel as good as I do. Anyone that knows me...knows I have HUGE issues with sugar. Addiction might even be a toned down description of how much I love and need sugar. I have issues....I admit it. That being said, if I can do this, SO CAN YOU! All you need is some momentum. If you find yourself thinking about giving in to temptation, walk away from it. Chew gum, drink water, eat some fruit, go do something active. Not only is this experience going to be good for you mentally and physically but hey...who doesn't want to win some moola?! For a little bit of extra motivation, lets talk prize money! With 25 challengers we have $500. Here's how it will be split:
1st Place - $300
2nd Place - $150
3rd Place - $50
Sometimes it's hard to find things that you want to eat during a challenge. Here's a list of a few of the things that I like:
V-8 (low sodium): 8 oz of this gives you 2 servings of veggies with only 50 calories! Make sure to get Low Sodium. Regular has a ton of salt which will just make you retain water.
Vanilla Greek Yogurt with fruit: Today I added pineapple and raspberries to it.
Cottage Cheese with Pears and Cinnamon: 1/2 cup cottage cheese, fruit, sprinkle cinnamon on top. This would also be good with peaches.
Breakfast Burrito: Whole Wheat Flat-Out Wraps, scrambled egg, turkey sausage, mozzarella cheese, salsa and low fat sour cream.
Raisins: I add them to my cereal and oatmeal.
Lots of Water: The challenge only requires 64 oz. per day but I usually drink 120-140 oz per day. This will help you stay hydrated and flush out bad stuff that has built up in your body.
I saw a good idea on pinterest yesterday - Sliced bananas drizzled with a little honey and sprinkled with cinnamon. I'm going to try this later today. Hopefully it will be helpful when I'm craving something sweet.
I can do this....I can do this....WE can do this!
Thanks Christine. Yummy ideas. Today is my first day of a craving for sweets. I took a look at your blog and remembered I had gum! Yeah!
ReplyDeleteSomething I tried that I really like...whole wheat tortilla, pizza sauce, turkey pepperoni (it's either low or no fat, can't remember, but it's really, really good), and a little sprinkle of lowfat mozarella. Stick it the microwave for a few seconds and it's great. It's a little pizza.
I like that idea. I'll have to try it. I always use turkey pepperoni on things. It has a lot less calories than regular pepperoni and tastes just as good. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas! Thanks for the motivation!
